Founded in 2011, Sakuramai is a passionate and energetic Yosakoi dance group based in Toronto. As an official Kochi Yosakoi Ambassador team (2016), our goal is to introduce the dynamic and exciting art of Yosakoi to Canadians, fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding of Japanese culture.
We share the excitement of Japanese dance with audiences across Canada. We’ve performed at some of Toronto's most iconic events, including Taste of the Danforth, Japan Day at the Raptors 905, Japanese Major League Baseball Night at the Rogers Centre, Anime North, ROM for the Holidays, and the Japan Canada Festival.
We’ve also performed across Canada in Vancouver and Montreal for Air Canada and Japan Tourism events. In 2019, we performed at the Harajuku Super Yosakoi Festival, one of the largest Yosakoi events in Japan.
We’re proud to have two sister teams, Sakuramai Poland and Sakuramai Montreal, which help us connect with Yosakoi dancers around the world and continue sharing the joy of this vibrant dance form.
桜舞は2011年に結成され、カナダ・トロントを拠点とするよさこいチームです。2016年には高知県よさこいアンバサダーチームに認定され、よさこいの芸の素晴らしさを多くのカナディアンへ伝え、カナダに日本の文化をより広められるように活動し続けています。
日本の踊りの楽しさを伝えるため桜舞はこれまで、テイスト・オブ・ザ・ダンフォース、ラプターズ905のジャパンデー祭でのハーフタイムショー、ロジャースセンターにてJapaneseメジャーリーグ’ベースボールナイト、アニメノース、ロイヤルオンタリオ博物館（ROM for the Holidays）、ジャパンフェスティバルカナダなど様々なイベントへ参加し、よさこいを踊り続けています。
過去には、バンクーバーにてエアカナダのイベントや、モントリオール国際旅行博で踊ったこともあります。2019年にはチームで日本へ行き、原宿表参道元氣祭スーパーよさこいへ参加したこともあります。
桜舞は、桜舞ポーランドと桜舞モントリオールの姉妹チームが２つあり、よさこいを通して世界と繋がれていることをうれしく思います。
